Releaf and Rhythms
is a program developed and managed by the Mississippi Urban
Forest Council. If your community or civic group would like
to host this event in your town please contact us. We have
toolkits for production available for $100.00 and can provide
additional assistance.
What do musicians, trees and the Guinness World Records have
in common?
The Mississippi Urban Forest Council has joined Weber Shandwick
Public Relations and the Wood Promotion Network as they attempt
to break the Guinness World Record for the Most Trees Planted
in One Hour!
Already, Wisconsin, Mississippi (ReLeaf and Rhythms), Iowa,
Virginia and New Mexico are planning to join the three signature
events in Atlanta, Detroit and Seattle. A pre recorded news
story will be distributed to news stations nationwide the
morning of April 22. This way we'll be able to offer the info
to stations in your market so that they can mention it in
the morning, and then come out on-site and cover it.This year,
to celebrate the 35th anniversary of Earth Day, local musicians,
artists and writers will be honored by having a tree planted
in their name at one of the metro area schools. Musicians
are welcome to bring their equipment and jam with others.
Mississippi 'Blues' guitarist, Jesse Robinson, the 500 lb.
Blues Band, Sherman Lee Dillon, Charity Soul Band, and many
other musicians will be jamming in celebration. Artists may
sell and display their works while writers sell and autograph
their writings.
In honor of these local talents, the Mississippi Urban Forest
Council, a non profit community tree council; will plant trees
at metro areas schools in their name. Partners sponsoring
the event includes: the City of Ridgeland, Metro Jackson Chambers,
Phillips, MS Prison Industries, and Weyerhaeuser Timber Company.
Come join the fun, to celebrate and contribute a tree to your
favorite school. Tickets are available at the door for $10.00.
So, come join the Earth Day celebration and attend Releaf
and Rhythms, April 22 at Phillips on the Reservoir in Jackson
Mississippi, from 6 PM to 12 PM. If you would like to participate
in the celebration contact Donna at 601-672-0755 or 601-672-0755.
